Fall Athletic Season Schedule

Dear Parents and Students,
The fall athletic season is about to begin.  If your son or daughter is interested in playing a varsity, junior varsity or junior high varsity sport, please review the information below regarding start times, contracts and concussion testing.
MONDAY 8/14/17
Varsity and junior varsity football begins.  Practice time is from 7:30AM – 10:00AM.
**THERE WILL BE AFTERNOON SESSIONS ON 8/15, 8/17, 8/22 AND 8/24 FROM 5:00PM – 7:00PM.
MONDAY 8/21/17
Varsity and junior varsity boy’s and girl’s soccer, volleyball and field hockey begins.
Boy’s soccer, girl’s soccer, field hockey and volleyball will be from 8:00AM – 10:00AM.
**VOLLEYBALL AND GIRL’S SOCCER WILL ALSO BE HAVING AFTERNOON SESSIONS AS WELL FROM 5:00 – 7:00PM.
***ALL OF THESE SPORTS WILL PRACTICE AT GREENPORT.
WEDNESDAY 9/6/17
Junior high football, field hockey, girl’s tennis, boy’s and girl’s soccer will have a meeting with their respective coaches after school as they begin their fall seasons.
***ALL OF THESE SPORTS WILL PRACTICE AT GREENPORT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF GIRL’S TENNIS WHICH WILL PRACTICE AT SOUTHOLD.
CONTRACT INFORMATION:
No athlete will be allowed to participate or be at a practice without a valid contract and a new or updated impact (concussion) test.  There will be no exceptions.
 
On Monday 8/14 and 8/21, the school doctor will be conducting physicals from 7:30AM – 8:30AM on both days.  Anyone having a physical performed by their personal physician will need to provide the school nurse with the proper documentation.
 
IMPACT TESTING INFORMATION:
All incoming 7th graders playing a sport will need to take an initial impact test.  All 9th and 11th graders will need to have an updated impact test.  Anyone else participating in a sport for the first time will also need to have an initial impact test.  No athlete will be allowed to participate without a valid impact test. There will be no exceptions.
 
Impact testing will be given on the following days and times.
Monday 8/14 and 8/21, from 8:30AM – 10:00AM in the third floor computer lab.
Tuesday 8/22 & Wednesday 8/23, from 8:30AM – 10:00AM in the third floor computer lab.
 
Also, please be advised the school nurse will be unavailable from Thursday August 23 through Monday September 4, and any contracts received during that time period will be held until Tuesday September 5, for review.
