Greenport School Community Garden

Students have been busy working and learning in the Greenport School Community Garden since the start of the new school year.

The native pollinator plants donated by Group For the East End have proven beneficial as we have had a number of caterpillars, butterflies and birds in the garden all summer. So far the garden has produced over 50 lbs. of vegetables. This is being used by the cafeteria staff to add fresh ingredients to the lunch menu, Mrs. Ladalia’s Home and Careers cooking class as well as our K -6 students during STEAM class with Mr. Wilkins.
A special thank you to Mrs. Lawanda North and her daughters for their effort during the summer and ALL year long for keeping the garden watered and cared for!
Keep an eye out for some exciting events coming from The Garden Club in the near future!
