Several Greenport students had the opportunity to take part in the Youth Leadership Summit on Friday, November 9that Suffolk Community College. Throughout the day, students and faculty were exposed to new ways of learning and leading. This year’s presentation included advocates from the Safe Center, Youth Power, and Riverhead CAP. Students took on big issues such as: sexual assault, drugs, alcohol and advocacy. The conference which was named “Youths as Activists” spread messages about hope, resilience, leadership and ultimately the power of knowledge. Many students from other districts around the East End were in attendance as well. All in all, the day was influential, thought-provoking and confidence-building for the students and faculty alike.
