Jacob Kahn is being recognized as the Rotary’s “Student of the Month” for February. Jacob is a senior at Greenport High School and is commended for earning the highest academic achievement as valedictorian of his class with a GPA of 98.604. He is one of 250 applicants (out of 95,000) to be passed on to the semi finalist round in the 2019 Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Jacob has also been acknowledged for his academic prowess in both the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society. In addition to his studies, Kahn has been a vital member of the Varsity Winter Track , Varsity Tennis and Varsity Soccer teams. He received the Suffolk County All-League Player award in 2017 & 2018 for tennis. Being team captain of the Varsity Soccer team, he has led his team to the 2018 Suffolk County Class C Champions and was honored in 2017 & 2018 as a Suffolk County All-League Player. Equally important to Jacob’s education is his extracurricular participation. Kahn is a committed member in various activities. He is the Senior Leader of RYLA for 2018-2019, the human rights chair of Model UN, Co-Vice President of Interact and the Club Treasurer of DECA. Jacob has been an athletic and academic team member of NJROTC, the drama club, the math league and the high school band. Kahn has served on the student council as the freshman class VP, the junior class treasurer and is currently the senior student council president and treasurer. Jacob is expected to graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with a Mastery in Science. He is pursuing both NROTC and Air Force ROTC scholarships to attend Stanford, Duke, Rice or Northwestern University. Jacob plans to study engineering in one of these prestigious colleges.
