The Music Department has some big news to share!  Last Spring, auditions were held to be a part of the 2019 All-State Music Festival.  The best Junior and Senior musicians in the state of New York will go to Rochester for 4 days to sing and play in multiple Ensembles that will perform in the annual All-State concert.  This is no easy audition.  To put it into perspective, the last Greenport student to attend an All-State Festival was back in 2012.  We are so very proud that our own Melody Silie has been accepted and will participate in the festival this December!  Congratulations Melody!
In other music news,  We have 2 students that were accepted into the Suffolk County Vocal Jazz Ensemble.  This all county ensemble has only 32 students that were selected from all of Suffolk County.  Franklin Mastrangelo and Anabelle Odell were the only singers from the entire East End that made the cut!  Congratulations Franklin and Anabelle!

There are amazing opportunities that come along with being a part of the music program.  If you do not have Chorus in your schedule, please stop into Mrs. Cabral’s Room during 5th period lunch on Monday to figure out how you can still be a part of it!  Once again, you must come to Mrs. Cabral’s room during 5th period lunch on Monday if you are interested in Chorus, but it does not appear on your schedule.

Students in grades 7 to 12 interested in being part of a drama club presentation, auditions will be held this afternoon in the auditorium after school for the Southold/Greenport combined comedy/drama Neil Simon’s, FOOLS. Auditions materials can be picked up in the HS office. This is a great opportunity to be part of fun show.

Northeast Stage is doing Othello this fall and the director is from the city and very experienced. He is interested in any HS students that might be interested, especially anyone of color, male or female. He’s going to be choreographing the fight scenes as well. It could be a very good learning experience for the right students. Anyone interested, auditions will be held at Holy Trinity Church tonight at 7 pm.

Any Jr. High students who might be interested in participating in cross country, please see Mrs. Dinizio in the athletic office.
