Kai Kaufman’s interests are solidly planted in technology. He has been a member of the Southold/Greenport Robotics Team RICE 870 since 9th grade currently serving as C0-President. He has been a staff writer for the Greenport Quill since 9th grade and serves as it’s website editor. There was also a brief involvement in the Greenport School History Club last spring until COVID happened.
Outside of Greenport School he is active in game development and administration serving over 140,000 worldwide users every month. He enjoys software engineering (taking stuff apart to see how it works). His interest in video production and editing has served the Greenport GPO TV Club as well. Involvement in Team RICE 870 has been a great experience all around. They have been very successful over the past few years and were able to go to the World Championships two years in a row. Personally Kai was responsible for calculating and providing data points about teams at the competition in order to help RICE 870 figure out who they should try to play with in competition. That, combined with analysis of reports from other team members, allowed us to rise to the top.
After graduation, Kai plans to study cybersecurity, as long as the college he goes to offers the courses in it. Otherwise he will study regular computer science with the hope to enter the cybersecurity field.
