Tuesday, December 1st, 2015 – A Day

Attention acappella group!   Rehearsal is TODAY from 3-4:30!  This is the final rehearsal before Friday’s performance at the tree lighting.  It is mandatory that you are at rehearsal today.

The Greenport Village Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Friday, December 4th at 5 pm at Mitchell Park. All are invited to attend.

Seniors, you need to turn your spaghetti dinner ticket money in on Friday 12/4 to either Mrs. Hopkins or Mrs. Kollen.  Please sign up in guidance to help with the event.

Attention Juniors… Please attend a meeting this Thursday at 2:00 or 2:45in room 318 to continue discussing prom themes.  The same meeting runs twice, so you will only need to attend one.  First Aid Kit Fundraising packets will be due on December 11th.  Keep selling!  Please see Ms. Douglass with questions or concerns.”

Drama Club Auditions went well yesterday for those who came. We will continue to hold auditions today from 3 to 5:30 pm. All parts are open.Oliver! will need a BIG cast, especially the ensemble with a lot of great songs, so all are welcome to attend. Rehearsal schedules will be flexible to work around sports conflicts. If you can not attend auditions today, but would like to be in the show,  please see Mrs. Peterson, Angie Pagano or Nellie Spackman. Everyone who auditioned on Monday, is invited back to callbacks on Wednesday, December 3rd at 3 pm.

Monday, November 30, 2015 – B Day

Auditions for the HS Spring musical, Oliver!, will take place today and tomorrow afternoon in the auditorium from 3 pm to 5:30 pm. Audition signup sheets and script materials are available in the HS office.

The drama club will be holding a Princess Movie Night for grades  on Friday, December 11th, 2015. Volunteers are needed to help. Please see Angie Pagano, Nellie Spackman or Mrs. Peterson.

Welcome to Ms. Paula Nickerson, our new Athletic Director who join us today. If you picked up a sports contract before Thanksgiving break, please make sure to get back to Mrs. Dinizio.

Greenport Village Christmas Tree Lighting 12/4

christmas_tree_lighting2The Greeenport Village Christmas Tree Lighting will take place at Mitchell Park at 5 pm on Friday, Dec 4th.  All students are invited to come!   Mrs. Cabral is working with  all elementary students to sing traditional holiday tunes to sing along with the audience.  The acappella group will be singing as well.  There will also be a surprise visitor.

Elementary Drama Club presents Jungle Book 11/20

Jungle-BookCome hear the incredible tale of Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves.  With the help of his friends — the bear Baloo, the panther Bagheera and the python Kaa — Mowgli learns the ways of the jungle today, November 20th the cast of The Jungle Book will be presenting their show  at 1 pm in the afternoon for the elementary school and at 7 pm for the general public. Admission is free, but good will donations are welcome.

Friday, November 20th, 2015 A Day

HS volunteers are needed to help prepare a community Thanksgiving Dinner under the direction of Chef James Smiley at Holy Trinity Church next Wednesday, November 25th starting at noon. The dinner will be served to community members who are working and can’t get home for dinner and for those who have no place to go for dinner on Thursday, November 26th starting at 10 am. If you are interested, show up or see Mrs. Peterson in the HS office. Excellent community service hours and a chance to do some cooking for those interested.

Parent teacher conferences will take place Monday November 24th in the evening and on Tuesday, November 23rd in the afternoon. Conference sign up forms were mailed home. Please turn into the HS office by today to reserve a time with the teachers your parents want to meet.

There will be vocal evaluations for the HS Spring musical, Oliver!, on Monday, November 23rd at 3 pm. Character auditions will be held on Monday, November 30th and Tuesday, December 1st at 3 pm in the auditorium.

Liam Lieblein November Rotary Student of the month

IMG_0972Congratulation to Liam Lieblein, November Rotary Student of the Month. This Greenport senior has played JV and Varsity soccer since 7th grade. He has been a member of the AV Club stage crew since 10th grade and  an active alter server since 2nd grade a St. Agnes Church, achieving the rank of Master Server in 10th grade.

He is a NJROTC member since 9th grade and has risen to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade and has the title of Operations Officer.
Northeastern, SUNY Binghamton, and Boston University are possibilities for his college plans. He would like to major in Chemistry or Physics. Pictured above are Liam with Mr Kalish, HS principal, his parents and Colin Van Tuyl, Greenport Rotary president.

The Sixth Grade class is holding a Poinsettia fundraiser. Order forms have been left in faculty mailboxes. Blanks can be picked up in the HS office if need. All orders are due in Friday, November 20th.

Holiday Poinsettia Sale

poinsettia plants6th Grade field trip fundraiser – Holiday Poinsettia sale going on now!  Orders are due Friday, November 20th with delivery Tuesday, December 1st from 2:30 – 3:30.  Colors available are white, red, marble and burgundy in 4.5 and 6.5 inch pots.  All plants have multiple blossoms.  Payment is cash or check payable to Greenport UFSD Booster Club.  Forms went home with elementary students or contact the elementary office.
