The Greenport, Southold, Mattituck NJROTC Unit was honored by the Greenport and Southold Rotary Clubs on April 19th.The Rotary clubs donated a $1000 to The Rotary Foundation to honor the service the students perform in the community. In addition Major Grigonis was honored by the clubs with a Paul Harris Fellow for the work he does with the students.

Athletic Director Paula Nickerson has instituted a new program at GHS called Captains’ Council. Captain’s Council is a student leadership program developed to promote school pride, sportsmanship, integrity and mentoring through athletics. The Council also provides for communication between student athletes and school administration. It is comprised of Greenport students who are captain of a varsity level sports team. Congratulations to the following students who have been selected to be a part of this program: Justin Bracken, Ryan Costello, Marina DeLuca, Mercedes Edwards, Toni Esposito, Stephanie King, Paige Pope, Bayron Rivas, Eduardo Sanchez, Jacob Skrezec, Kyla Smiley, Keegan Syron, Madison Tabor, Kathleen Tuthill, Emelys Villareal, Rosemary Volinski, Isabel Wachtel, Brendan Walker and Maleik Yoskovich.
Pictured above are the Greenport students who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Award weekend, where they participated in leadership training. It was held at the 4H camp in Riverhead. Approximately, 300 student from schools from, Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island participated. The students were actively involved in team building activities and listened to 3 motivational speakers who spoke about the aspects of leadership. 12pm – SUNY Maritime located in Throggs Neck, New York. The most popular majors are Engineering, Transportation and Materials Moving and Business.
12:30pm – CUNY (City University of New York). These colleges are located throughout the five boroughs of New York with various majors. This representative will be able to discuss any of the CUNY colleges.
