Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 A Day

Anyone interested in wrestling this season, there will be a brief meeting in the gym during advisory.  If you are looking to improve your strength, speed, endurance or overall athleticism, wrestling is the sport for you. Go to the big gym NOW! If you have any other questions please see Mr. Fioretti.

Tonight, Greenport will be hosting the class D and class C volleyball regional championships. Shelter Island will be facing off against Haldane from Section 1 at 4 pm and Mattituck will be taking on Pierson at 6 pm. Be there tonight, in the big gym for this exciting event.

There will be a varsity and JV boys basketball meeting today at 3 pm in room 322 with coach Corwin.

The National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society will be having a brief meeting during advisory this Friday.  Please meet in the auditorium.

Attention from Mrs. Manfredi, The end of the quarter is rapidly approaching.  All Independent PE assignments are due before Friday.

Today the Student Council will be hosting a blood drive in the big gym. Please see Mrs. Richter in the HS library during advisory  to sign up.

Tomorrow is picture retake day in the auditorium for all those who missed the original day in September or for those who would like their photo’s retaken. For those who missed in September, this is your last chance to obtain a school ID card. Order forms are available in the HS office.

The Town of Southold Youth Court Program will meet on Thursday November 7th from 5:45 to 7:00 pm in Southold Town Hall.
Please join us even if you weren’t able to attend the 1st meeting.

Friday, November 1st, 2019 A Day

Attention to all girls in grades 9 through 12 who are interested in playing V & JV Girls basketball.  There will be an organizational meeting at Greenport HS on Monday, November 4 at 3:00 p.m.  The meeting will take place in Room 322.

Congratulations to the members of the Greenport-Southold girls volleyball team on their outstanding season.  They played hard and tough in their playoff game against Pierson Wednesday, coming back from a 2-0 deficit
to the it at 2-2.  The fifth and final match did not go the way they’d hoped but we are extremely proud of them for making it to the playoffs.

Trunk or Treat 2019

The High School Interact club hosted its second annual Trunk or Treat on Wednesday October 30th. This community event allowed elementary students to have a safe and fun environment to trick or treat out of the trunks of decorated cars. Although it was a chilly evening, we had a terrific turnout. A fun time was had by all!

Thursday, October 31, 2019 B Day

Mr. Conti’s 1st period study hall is to report to the HS library this morning. 

Please come support our Porters football team this Sunday, November 3rd. They will be holding a pancake breakfast from 8 am to 11 am at the Greenport Fire House on 238 3rd St. Tickets are 12 for adults and $6 for children under 11. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.


We are arranging a spectator bus for the varsity boys soccer game on Saturday, November 2.  The bus will leave Greenport at 11:30 a.m. and return at approximately 4:00 p.m.  We need 30 people to make it a go.  The cost is $20 per errands which includes the feel for the bus and entry into the game.  If you are interested, please stop by the Athletic Office to pick up a permission slip.  Your seat is secured when you pay the $20 and turn in the permission slip.  Seats are on a first come, first served basis.  When the bus is full, it’s full – that’s it.  Deadline to sign up is 11 a.m. on Friday.

Remember Trunk or Treat is happening today starting at 5 pm in the west side parking lot. 

Sign up is happening this week in the HS office for the spring musical.  Stop by and sign up if your are interested in joining as a performer, stage or tech crew. Also, if you would like to run for a club officer, stop by. 

Congratulations to the Mattituck-Southold-Greenport girls soccer team and especially to Greenport’s very own Adrine Demirciyan who beat Center Moriches yesterday 2-1.  They now advance to the Class B final against Babylon.  That game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, November 2 at 5 p.m. at Shoreham Wading River HS.

Congratulations to the JH field hockey team with their 1-0 win over Southampton.  A great way to end the season.  Great job girls.

Reminder to all 7th graders in Mr. Toussaint’s 2nd and 7th period social studies classes to go to lunch period 5 and report back to the main lobby at 11:30 to attend the Amistad field trip.

There will be a college fair today in the HS Library for all 11th and 12th grade students during period 6. Teachers of 12th grade students, please take attendance at the beginning of 6th period then proceed to the HS library. 11th grade classes, you will be called down. Any boys in Jr. High who are interested in playing basketball – which starts on November 4 – should attend a meeting in the big gym on Wednesday, October 30 at 3 p.m.  If you cannot make it, please see Coach Lou in the elementary office.

Make sure to take some time out this weekend to come see your fellow students in the performance of Fools in the Greenport auditorium Friday or Saturday at 7 pm. Sunday at 2 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

Thursday, October 24th, 2019 A Day

Attention all DECA members. Today is the day to vote for club officers. Go to Mr. Holt’s room during advisory to cast your ballot.


There will be a National Honor Society meeting tomorrow during advisory. Please meet in the computer lab, room 306.

The girls volleyball team finished off their regular season schedule with a three set victory over Ross last night; 25-12, 25-11, 25-19.   

Liz Jernick had 7 aces, 20 assists and 8 kills, Jessica Mele had 14 kills and 9 digs, and Courtney Cocheo had 5 aces, 9 kills and 10 digs.  The Ladies are now 7-5 in League and are preparing for their semi-final county playoff match against Pierson next Wednesday!

Tomorrow is opening night for the combined efforts of Southold and Greenport with comedy drama production of FOOLS. Start time is 7 pm. Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at 6 pm. $10 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and students.
