Reminder that Academic Awards will be this tonight starting at 7 pm.Rehearsal for this ceremony will take place today 8th period.

Yearbooks are on sale for $55.00.  Please see Mrs. Kollen in the elementary office to purchase a copy. Cash or check made out to Beachcomber is accepted.

For any athlete that participated in track this year, there will be a meeting in the gym today at 2:50 pm

Juniors  – There will be a meeting on Friday at 7:30am in Mr. Taylor’s room to discuss senior trip options and solidify class officers.

There will be a meeting for all girls in grades 6-11 who are interested in playing field hockey next fall. The meeting will be in room 201 this Friday, June 10th at 3pm.

Joe McInnis, an 8th grader here at Greenport has been working on an independent science project with a retired scientist from Plum Island Animal Disease Research Lab on the cause of colony collapse disease which effects honeybees worldwide.

This week from June 6th thru 9th, our combined football team will be hosting a four day camp at Greenport High School after school from 3 to 4:30 pm. This camp is being held for all junior varsity and varsity players. Expectations for the upcoming season are high, and making playoffs is our goal. If you’ve never played football but thought about it, come out and give it a try next week. If you’re a returning player, the coaching staff can’t wait to see you guys again.

Attention all female athletes in grades 6-11. If you are interested in playing Junior High, Junior Varsity or Varsity Girls soccer in the fall of 2016, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, June 8th starting at 3:10pm with Coach Locascio. The meeting will be held in Mr. Golden’s room. See you there!

Anyone current 9th through 11th grade student interested in Greenport TV for next year….please sign up in the guidance office.  

Attention Acappella Group.  Our final rehearsal is today after school.  We will be done by 3:30!

A final congratulations to the middle school track and field team for closing out their season at Hampton Bays in record-breaking fashion!  Personal bests were earned by: Robert in the 400, Mack in both the 55 and 100, Liam in the 200, Jackson and Drew in the 55, Donovan in both Shot Put and Discus, Melody and Adan in the hurdles, Bryan in both the 200 and long jump, Kelly in the 100 and long jump.  Sophia Wachtel set a new team record in the hurdles with a time of 10.8 seconds, Chris set a team record in the 3000 with a time of 10:54, Melody, Kelly, Jessica, and Andrea set the new girls 4 by 100 record with a time of 61.9 seconds!  Outstanding season everyone, see you at 3pm today!

ATTENTION  Seniors:  Your End of Year Expenses are now past due!!!  If you plan on attending the Senior Awards Breakfast and bring guests, you MUST see Mrs. Hopkins or Mrs. Kollen today!!!!

Friday, May 27th, 2016 B Day

Congratulations to the cast and Crew of The Tempest on last night’s performance. For those of you who missed it, you have one more chance at the Shakespeare Festival next Friday, June 3rd to take place at the Southold Amphitheater starting at 5 pm.

There will be a Drama Club Meeting today in the HS library after school. Open to current and new members.

ATTN: NJROTC Students attending the field trip today, you will be leaving earlier today @  9:45 am. Please see NC1 Turner with any questions.

Congratulations to the middle school track and field team for competing in brutally hot conditions at Mattituck yesterday.  Liam Rue led the boys 4 by 100 relay to first place and a new team record of 55.9 seconds, Drew Wolf took first in the boys 800 and long jump, Jessica Villareal earned a personal best in the Triple jump, Kevin Azama took second in the hurdles, both Sophia Wachtel and Bryan Soriano long jumped personal bests, Chris Kuczynski took first and threw 32 feet in the shot put setting a new team record, Kelly Torres-Rodriguez had a personal best in the girls 100, and Mack Mezynieski took 1st and earned a personal best in the 55m. Incredible performances by all athletes!

Congratulations to Hayley Brigham who place 13th in the 2000 meter steeplechase at the Suffolk County Girls Track and Field Championships.  Hayley ran the race in a school record time of 8 minutes and 27 seconds.

Reminder that Monday school will be closed in honor of Memorial Day. For those students marching in parade with  the band, please report as per Mrs. Goodland’s directions.

Outing Club Fishing Trip 5/25

Mrs. Agosta, Mrs. Burke, and Ms. Douglass accompanied the GHS Outing Club on their annual fishing trip.  Many thanks go to Captain Rich Jensen of the Nancy Ann and his crew.  Over 200 porgies were caught and many laughs were had.  It is an experience our students will not forget.
