Suny martime 15 Greg Suny CUP15CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NJROTC CADETS FOR THEIR TOTALLY DOMINATING VICTORY AT SUNY MARITIME COLLEGE’S 15TH ANNUAL JROTC ALL SERVICE INVITATIONAL ON SATURDAY.  THE CADETS FINISHED FIRST OVERALL OUT OF 8 SCHOOLS COMPETING FROM NEW YORK, NEW JERSEY AND CONNECTICUT AND BROUGHT HOME THE FOLLOWING TROPHIES & PLACEMENTS:

October Rotary Student of the Month

image2Ryan Costello is a Senior is a ROTC Honor Cadet who has received the ROTC Citizenship Award. He is a member of Greenport High School’s DECA Club and plays varsity soccer, basketball and baseball. He wants to attend Providence College in Rhode Island to major in Finance. His plans are to work on an MBA after obtaining his undergraduate degree so he can work in the stock market or for a bank.

September Rotary Student of the Month

Rosemary Volinski is a Senior at Greenport High School and has been on high honor roll for all 4 years. She currently takes two AP classes and has 3 other AP Classes under her belt. She has been on the varsity soccer team for 4 years and currently plays on a premier team that travels around the country. She wants to attend New Haven University to pursue criminal justice.

Attention students:  Sign up for Porter Pep Rally activities Today.  You will be able to sign up for 1 activity in the high school library 3 -9 periods.  Beginning Thursday you can sign up for more activities if there is room.

There are new games and  new projects so everyone should stop by and see what’s available.  See Mrs. Richter with questions.

Spirit Week for the rest of the week

Thursday – Celebrity Day

Friday – Purple and Gold Day.

Points will be awarded to each class for the number of students who participate each day.  A prize will be awarded at the end of the week during the pep rally.

The DECA meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, 10/22 at 5:30 pm. If you are interested in joining the DECA Club, please come to the meeting or talk to one of the DECA Club officers, Max Mastrangelo, President, Ryan Costello, Vice President, Katie Tuthill, Treasurer and Madison Tabor, Secretary.

The Southold Robotics Team will meet this Wednesday, October 21st from 7 – 8:30pm in the Tech Room at Southold H.S.  All members are expected to attend.

“Attention Juniors…

All cheesecake and pie order forms are now overdue.  No orders can be taken after Wednesday, so get them in now!  Please see Jennifer Palencia if you would like to create a clip for the junior class video.  All entries must be submitted by Wednesday.  We also need students to volunteer to bring sides to the high school bbq on Friday.  Sign up with Ms. Douglass today.  Lastly, don’t forget to sign up for pep rally activities with Mrs. Richter in the high school library.  Please See Ms. Douglass with any questions or concerns.”

Sophomores please stop by room 314 to sign up for the salads you can bring in on Friday. Also $2 covers the cost of our class contribution for the bbq.

Attention students in grades 9-12:  Spirit Day activities on Friday will start 5th period with a BBQ lunch out on the west side of the school.  Classes are providing entrees, drinks, and plates, etc.  We are asking you – the students – to bring side dishes and desserts.  Talk to your class advisor or Mrs. Richter is you can bring something.

Attention Acappella members!  We will switch to Wednesday rehearsals starting in the month of November.  Tuesday rehearsals will continue throughout the month of October.  Once again, the switch to Wednesday rehearsals will take place in November.

Attention all Quill members there will be a meeting on Wednesday @ 7:15 am in the morning! Everyone should attend!

Congratulations to the boys junior high soccer team for their 4-1 victory over Mattituck yesterday. Goals were scored by Elber Ochoa, Josh Santacroce, and Kevin Azama. Cristian Quezada played excellent defense and it was an all around great team effort. Nice job boys!

Congratulations to the JH Football team on the victory over Southampton 44-21. Ahkee Anderson scored 3 touchdowns. Xavier Allen had 2 touchdowns. Colby Suglia had 1 touchdown. GO Porters!

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming Greenport/Southold combined drama Shakespeare in Hollywood on Halloween weekend hosted here at Greenport.

Tickets can be purchased at Southold Library, William Floyd Library, or in the HS office. Adult tickets are $10, student and senior tickets are $6.

Thursday, October 15th, 2015 B Day

ATTENTION ALL BAND STUDENTS – there will be NO individual lessons today, October 15th or tomorrow October 16th. JH and SH Band please report to your regular class.

Attention all students in grades 9 through 12:  Our homecoming dance is scheduled for tonight  from 7 – 9:30 in the small gym.  Tickets are only $7 if you buy them before Thursday – $10 at the door.  See Mrs. Richter or any Student Council member for tickets.

Mrs. Taylor would like to remind all 7th and 8th grade students to please turn in your fundraising money to her.

Congratulations to the varsity girls field hockey team on their win against Babylon. Winning goals were scored during an overtime shoot out by Jules Atkins, Madison Hilton, and Madison Tabor.

Congratulations to the Greenport JS football team on the win over Westhampton 33-21. Kobe Suglia had 1 touchdown and Ahkee Anderson had 4 touchdowns.
