Rachel Hughes Selected as Rotary Student of the Month

 

Congratulations to  Rachel Hughes who was selected as the January Rotary Student of the Month.  She is a senior and  is an integral member of our GOP TV group where she writes, tapes, and edits for our broadcasting program. Rachel is a 4 year member of our NJROTC unit. As a member of the AV Tech crew where you can usually find her running the video recorder or organizing the NJROTC volunteer ushers. She attends the ESBOCES Culinary Arts/Restaurant Operations program.

Attention 10th graders:  Reminder: if you would like to represent Greenport  High School at this years’ Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Summit, please see Mrs. Hopkins for details.  This is a great opportunity to network with students from all Long Island, educators, politicians and business people.


7th and 8th graders please turn in raffle ticket and class trip money to Mrs. Taylor in her office.

Friday, January 13, 2017 A Day

Reminder to 10th graders who want to attend the BOCES Visitor’s Day, permission slips are due to Mrs. Hopkins by Friday.


Drama club rehearsal in the auditorium today form 3 pm to 5:30 for full cast. Stage crew members who are available, let Mrs. Peterson know so we can work on bringing stage pieces up from basement.

GHS Model UN is a new extra-curricular club forming. Mr. Holt is the adviser. 1st meeting will be Friday, January 27th in room 301. Please see Mr. Holt with any questions.


The late winter JHS season will start on Monday, January 23rd. If you are interested in participating in JH girl’s basketball or JHS boy’s wrestling, please stop by the athletic office and see Mrs. Dinizio for a new athletic contract. Thank you.


Congratulations to the girl 4 by 200 meter relay team (Marie Mullen, Kat Kilcommons, Jillian Golden and Hayley Brigham) for taking 7th out of 34 teams at the Zietler Invitation Relays last night in Brentwood.  Marie, Kat and Hayley also finished 4th in League Five for the three  by 55 meter High Hurdles  relay in a blistering time of 31 seconds.


Wednesday, January 18, 2017 is being designated as Porter Pride day.  Wear your purple (or gold) and show how proud you are to be a Porter.  The event is schoolwide!
