Valentina Acero Named Rotary Student of the Month for March

Valentina is an AP and High Honor roll student. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society as well as DECA business club, yearbook club. student council, Interact and the robotics club. She was junior class president ans is this year’s Interact and Student Council President. She has applied to schools such as NYU, Fordham Tech, George Mason, Stony Brook, Binghampton, and NYIT with hopes to attend one of them to study computer or systems engineering.

Attention 7th and 8th graders going on class trip in April, Mrs, Taylor needs you to turn in your money and permission slip no later than April 1st.

Attention Juniors who plan on participating in Job Shadow Day…your permission slips are due by Wednesday, March 16th to Mrs. Hopkins.  She will not start placing you until she receives your permission slip.

Also,  please attend a meeting at 2:45 in room 318 TODAY to decide on prom favors.  Please See Ms. Douglass with questions or concerns.”

There will be a yearbook meeting today from 2:45-4:45 in room 217.  Please make every attempt to be there as we will be taking a group photo as well as finishing pages up for the deadline.

Last Friday night the junior high wrestling team won 4 of 6 matches. Jackson Rung-Wile won 12-3 and Drew Wolf Donovan Sanchez and Malachi Boisseau all won with pins. Last Night Drew wolf and Malachi Boisseau won with  pins and Jackson Rung Wile won 14-3. They were great matches

Mrs. Kollen found set of key in room 217 if anyone lost them, please see her.

Mrs. Richter found a set of keys in the computer lab last week, they are in the HS library.

A cell phone was found in room 310. It is in the HS library.


One Voice will be cancelled after school today, we will meet next Tuesday.

Attention All Students Spring Fest is Coming

Next Monday Tuesday and Wednesday You can sign up for the First annual Shakespeare festival.

Last week almost 30 Greenport students came out to Playing at Will

Auditions for Southold and Greenport will be March 21st, 22nd and 23rd.

Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute

Rosa Hernandez from Greenport High School and Suleima Paiz from Southold High School are delegates for the 26th annual Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute. They had the opportunity to hear Assemblyman Phil Ramos speak about his experiences as an assemblyman at the PRHYLI training session at BOCES. Assemblyman Ramos agreed to take photos with delegates after his presentation.

Monday, March 14th, 2016 B Day

Congratulations to Greenport’s chefs Richard Galicia, Walfred Gatica, Antonio Coria, Antonio Anderson, Leo Torres and Angel Hernandez on winning second place at the Junior Iron Chef competition on Saturday.

Attention 10th and 11th grade students:  If you plan on attending BOCES next year, please pick up an application from Mrs. Hopkins….applications are due by March 24th.

Attention Juniors:  Are you interested in a career in healthcare?  The Eastern Long Island  Hospital Summer Work Experience is back for this summer.  It is a 6 week program designed for students interested in pursuing a Healthcare Career.  This is a paid internship.  If you would like to apply for the program, please pick up an application in the guidance office.

A set of keys on a lanyard and a charging adapter were found in the computer lab last week by Mrs. Richter. If you left them behind and can identify them. please stop by the HS office.

This evening will be our Music in Our Schools Concert. All are welcome to attend. All performers will be given information from Mrs. Cabral and Mrs. Goodland on where to meet tonight.

Reminder that the Greenport School Garden is sponsoring the Soup Bowl this Sunday, March 13th from 12 noon to 3 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Come enjoy the delicious soups from local restaurants.

Attention all DECA students.  Your field trip permission forms are due TODAY! Please give your permission slip to one of the DECA Officers or drop it off in the guidance office if you have not already done so.

Reminder that the Greenport School Garden is sponsoring the Soup Bowl this Sunday, March 13th from 12 noon to 3 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Come enjoy the delicious soups from local restaurants.

Computer Club meets on  Wednesday’s  and Thursday’s from 3-4 in the third floor computer lab. All are Welcome to attend. Please see Ms. Sweeney in room 117 with any questions or concerns.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Oliver! on your fantastic performances. So many in attendance wanted you to know they thought is was the best show ever at Greenport. Thank you also to all those you who came to see the show. We appreciate your support.
