There will be a yearbook meeting today at 4:15 in the 2nd floor computer lab.  Please make every effort to attend.

Attention 10th graders:  Please hand in your permission slips to attend the BOCES Visitor’s Day on February 2nd.  

Mrs. Burke is  looking for anyone interested in signing up for the Rosetta Stone to let her know ASAP..I’m looking to wrap things up for the Rosetta Stone by the end of this month if possible.  Please make sure to get her a check for $149 written out to GHS if you are interested.  Please contact her with any questions.

Oliver! rehearsal schedule is posted on the bulletin board in the lobby we will need full cast including the 6th grade chorus. Thank you to all who came out this weekend to help build the set pieces.  The next set building will be Saturday from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

There will be a meeting for all 7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing basketball on Thursday at 2:45 pm  in room 301.  Please get your contracts in this week!  See coach DiGregorio with questions or concerns or if you cannot make the meeting but are interested in playing.

GHS Drama Club presenting Oliver! Can you help build the set?

The HS Drama Club will be presenting Oliver! this March. They are looking for parents available to help come build the set this weekend.  We will be meeting in the auditorium Saturday, January 16th and Sunday, January 17th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. Those available to help or have any questions, please email dramaclub@gufsd.org or call Mrs. Peterson in the HS Office 631-477-1950×1225 during school hours.

Joint Student Council Meeting held with GHS, SHS, and SIHS

On Tuesday, January 12th, 13 members of Shelter Island, Southold and Greenport Student Councils met at GHS. In addition advisors from the three groups were there.  Plans are underway to hold a second annual combined dance. The date had been set for February 26th at GHS. The students set a theme and events that will take place during the dance. New to Greenport will be a photobooth and video gamers lounge.
Watch for more details as the event gets closer.

Attention sophomores, juniors and seniors:  Do you love animals?  Are you interested in learning more about Veterinary Medicine?  Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County is once again having a Veterinary  Medicine Career Exploration Program in March.  For more information, please see Mrs. Hopkins in the guidance office.

Regents & Midterm Exams: Jan 19 to Jan 29

Dear High School Students and Parents,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful holiday. Within the next few weeks the school year will reach its midpoint. Teachers and staff are preparing to administer their midterm assessments for their respective courses. Attached is a copy of a Mid-Term Assessment Schedule we will be utilizing from January 19th through January 25th. The assessments will take place during class time, but will require preparation outside of the school day. These local midterm exams are given at the discretion of the classroom teacher.

Greenport High School will be administering Regents examinations from January 26th through January 29th. All classes are in session during these days. These exams are being offered for students who are scheduled for retakes or credit recovery. Please see guidance with any questions regarding exam registration.
Be prepared, study hard and do well.
