Thursday, November 10th, 2016 A DAY

Vocal Auditions will be held today for the spring musical. Sign up sheets and audition forms are available in the HS office. All interested students in grades 7 to 12, for the whether it be for a lead role or in the ensemble need to have a vocal evaluation. Mrs. Haley and Mrs. Nitti promise this is will be an easy audition! Show choice will be announced next week after auditions.


The following colleges will be in guidance:

Tuesday, November 15th at 11:40am, University of Massachusetts, Lowell Campus; which is located in Lowell, Massachusetts.  The most popular majors are Business/Marketing, Engineering and Computer/Information Processing.

Wednesday, November 16th at 11am, University of Rhode Island; located in Kingston, Rhode Island.  The most popular majors are Health Professions, Business/Marketing and Communications.

If you would like to meet with these colleges, please get a pass from guidance.


Reminder to seniors going on the Senior Class Trip:  a payment is now due!!!  


There will be a meeting for all athletes interested in cheer leading during the winter season on Monday November 14th at 3:15 pm in room 106. Please make every effort to attend.


The next Student Council meeting is Wednesday, November 16 at 2:45 in the HS library. Important upcoming events will be discussed. All class officers for grades 9-12 are required to attend.  All other students are welcome.  See Mrs Richter with questions and conflicts.

Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 B Day

Picture retake day will be tomorrow in the auditorium. All students who did not have their picture taken for their class ID, must go tomorrow. Announcements will be made for when these students need to report to the auditorium. Order forms for purchasing photo packets can be picked up in the HS office. Those students who wish to have their package photo retaken, please report to the auditorium during your LUNCH period.

Today at 8:30 am, a representative of the CUNY schools, which includes the following colleges: Hunter, Brooklyn, Medgar Evers, City College, John Jay, Baruch, and Queens and more.  Each college offers a variety of majors. They are all located throughout the 5 boroughs of New York City.


The next Student Council meeting is Wednesday, November 16 at 2:45 in the HS library. Important upcoming events will be discussed. All class officers for grades 9-12 are required to attend.  All other students are welcome.  See Mrs Richter with questions and conflicts.

Pick something that you enjoy singing and can sing well. Auditions sheets were left in homeroom teacher mail boxes or can be picked up from the HS office.  Sign up for a time slot in the HS office.


ATTN: 7th grade students who are helping with costumes for the elementary production of Annie Jr, we will be meeting today after school in the auditorium.

Tonight is the Varsity Sports Awards ceremony and dinner.  It begins at 6 p.m. in the Auditorium.  Dress to impress ~ you will be brought up on stage this year.

Picture Retake Day 11/10

Lifetouch Photographers will be here for picture retakes for any student who would like their package redone, please bring original packager with you and turn into photographers.

Students who were not in attendance in September for picture day can have their picture taken. Ordering information for photo packages is available in the elementary and HS offices.
High School students who need a photo ID need to have their picture taken Thursday in order to take one.
Elementary photographer will be available from 10:30 to 1:45 pm
High School photographer will be available from 8:30 am to 1 pm.

Order forms are available in the HS office.


National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society will be meeting this week, Wednesday morning at 7:15 am.  More details to follow. Please see Mrs. A and Mrs. DaSilva for more information.


Any student in grades 9 through 12 who is interested in JV or Varsity wrestling, which is held at Mattituck, please see Mr. Golden in the Athletic Office.


Congratulations to the Junior High Boys Soccer team for their 4-3 overtime win over Westhampton on Friday.  Kevin Azama scored 3 goals in the game giving him an outstanding total of 20 goals for the season.  Diego Giron scored the winning goal in overtime with just 1 minute left in the game.  Westhampton came into the game as the best team in the league, but due to an exceptional team effort, we were able to come away with the win.  Great season guys!

Thank you to all who participated in our Blood Drive on Wednesday. Our school had 38 donations which will help 114 to 175 patients.

Attention all boys interested in playing JV and Varsity basketball, there will be a meeting today at 2:50 pm in Mr. Golden’s room, 322. Coach Corwin will be there to discuss the upcoming first practice date and season. Please attend this meeting.

There will be a JH girls volleyball meeting on November 7th at 2:45 pm in the small gym. Any JH girl interested in playing should attend this meeting. If you have any questions or will not be able to attend the meeting you should see Mrs. Johnstone in the Guidance Office.
 
Wednesday, November 9th the Athletic Department will be having a Varsity Fall Sports awards night starting at 6 pm in the auditorium. Dress to impress – you will be called on stage this year.

Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 A Day

Congratulations to the Boys Junior High Soccer team for their victory of East Moriches on Tuesday. Kevin Azama scored 3 goals and Steven Merino scored 1 goal. Also, a big thank you to Mr. Taylor for subbing in as coach on Tuesday.


ATTN student drivers, the number parking spots are assigned to staff. Students who drive to school are to 1st, register their vehicles with the HS office and then park in one of the unnumbered spots on the east side by the football fields.


Congratulations to the David Jenkins, the final winner in the Student Council Halloween Costume Contest. Please stop by the High school library to claim your prize.


Congratulations to the JH field Hockey team with their 2-0 win over Pierson.


There will be a JH high girls volleyball meeting on November 7th at 2:45 in the small gym.  Any JR High girl interested in playing should


attend this meeting.  If you have any questions or will not be able to attend the meeting should see Mrs. Johnstone in the Guidance

Attention girls basketball players, there will be a very important meeting today at 2:50 pm in Mr. Golden’s room, which is 322.  If you are planning on playing you must attend this meeting.

Congratulations to the JH Field Hockey Team with their 1-0 win over Montauk.  Congratulations to Hayley Skrezec on her first goal of the season.


For those interested in Varsity or JV wrestling, Mr. Fioretti assist coach,  will be having a meeting in the big gym tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. If you cannot attend, please see Mr. Fioretti before then.

Attention student drivers, a reminder in order to drive to school and park in the school parking lot, you need your senior license and a parking sticker which can be obtained in the HS office. Please stop by with your registration and license to sign up for a sticker.

Rotary Student of the Month – October

Toni Esposito has been named October Student of the Month

 

Toni takes part in many activities both scholastically and athletically at Greenport. She is the President of the DECA Business Club and well as the Booster Club. Vice President of the Student Council and a member of Southold Town Youth Bureau., National Honor Society, Yearbook, and Interact Club. She is an AP Scholar taking 3 AP classes this year and 4 previously. Toni is active in Greenport Athletics as well, being the Varsity Captain of Field Hockey, Basketball, and Softball teams.
